1. At the intersection of Route 16 and Old Route 55

turn north past the Wal-Mart store for approximately 1.8 miles. This highway will go from a 4-lane highway to a 2-lane.

2. Turn west on to county road “East 2nd Road at the Illinois Department of Transportation Shed. You will go over interstate 55 where the road turns to the north.

3. You will be on this road for approximately 2.2 miles.

4. At the intersection of North 16th Ave and East 2nd road turn west. There is an old school on the northeast corner and a new home on the northwest corner of this intersection.

5. Travel west for approximately 5.7 miles until you come to barricades. You have reached some the latest ground to have been subsided. Ground on the west side of the barrier is subsided and ground on the eastside of the road hasn’t been subsided.

6. If you wish, you may turn south past the big fan and turn at the first road to the west to see more. This road will take you to route 4.
